How to get around in a UNIX Shell Account

When you first logon to a UNIX shell account, if you are like I was the first time I did, you will see a prompt and won't know what to do. These FAQ's will help you do the basic things you would normally do in a slip/ppp account, if that's what you're used to.

Because UNIX is a case sensitive language, when commands are given in these FAQs, please type them as is. For example, the word 'pico' would be typed all lower case.

Also, to show that something is a command, it will be surrounded by quotes, i.e. 'pine' but when you type the command, do not type the quotes, only what is inside of them.

If you need further explanation or are unclear of something, please let me know.
